Stanford Professor Peter Stansky to present Duval Lecture

Peter Stansky, professor of history at Stanford University, will present the New Mexico State University History Department's 19th annual Duval Lecture Thursday, March 1.


Stansky's lecture, at 7:30 p.m. in NMSU's Science Hall, Room 108, is titled "Art, Society and Jews in Britain: The Sassoons and John Singer Sargent."

A professor of history at Stanford since 1968, Stansky specializes in modern British history and serves as the director of the Stanford Humanities Center.

The Duval Lecture is held each year by the history department in memory of Charles Duval a professor in the department that was killed in an automobile accident in 1972.
