The New Mexico State University Bookstore will have a book signing for Louis Ocepek, graphic designer, illustrator, artist and educator, Thursday, Jan. 23.

"Graphic Design: Vision, Process and Product" is structured to follow the process that most designers use in communication design. Each chapter addresses a single element in graphic design and can be used as the basis for design projects. It emphasizes achieving a balance between individual creativity, utility and responsibility to the client. Included are example projects from contemporary graphic designers, museums and private collections in such communication formats as posters, covers and catalogs.

Ocepek has been a graphic designer, illustrator, artist and educator for more than 35 years, including 17 years as a professor of graphic design at New Mexico State. He has had 12 solo exhibitions, and his work in graphic design and fine art has been included in more than 60 group exhibitions. In 2001, Ocepek received the Westhafer Award for Teaching Excellence, New Mexico State's most prestigious teaching award.

Suggested parking for the event is in Lots 17 and 17N west of Corbett Center, Lot 16 northwest of Corbett Center and Lot 27 north of the Educational Services building. Visitors must pay meters if parked in the metered parking area of Lot 17N.
