Employment Extravaganza will present job opportunities for all majors

New Mexico State University students of all majors are invited to attend Employment Extravaganza 2009 to meet and speak with employers ranging from small regional businesses to national corporations and agencies.

The career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the lower level of Corbett Center Student Union. Participants will have the chance to speak with multiple employers to set up internships, co-ops and permanent employment.

"This job fair is different from the others in that it does not focus on specific majors," said Mary Berry, assistant director of NMSU Career Services. "This is an opportunity for students of all majors."

The employers at the job fair will be looking for a full range of jobs, from part time to full time, and even summer time positions. The fair is not intended just for students close to graduation who are seeking career employment. Undergraduates may want to attend to seek summer jobs or internships.

With the current economic state of the country, Berry said the employer outcome has decreased this year. But a high turnout of participants at the job fair could incent more employers to come back in the future.
About 30 employers are expected at the fair, from local employers, such as Tresco Inc., to national employers, including the U.S. Navy and other federal agencies.

Participants should dress professionally and bring several copies of their resume. Students are encouraged to visit http://careerservices.nmsu.edu to view the full list of participants so they can choose which employers to meet with, prepare and maximize their time at the fair.
