NMSU reception celebrating Better Speech and Hearing Month to be held

The New Mexico State University College of Education will hold a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. April 28 in the Edgar R. Garrett Speech and Hearing Center to celebrate the month of May as Better Speech and Hearing Month.

The reception will be held in the main lobby of the building. There will be a meet-and-greet followed by a tour of the center, allowing the community to see the center and understand its purpose.

Better Speech and Hearing Month is held to raise awareness about communication disorders and to promote treatment that can improve the quality of life for those who experience problems with speaking, understanding or hearing.

The NMSU Speech and Hearing Center provides services in an on-campus clinic, and students and faculty also provide hearing, speech, and language screenings for the Las Cruces Public Schools, Gadsden Public Schools, Dona Ana County Head Start, NMSU Myrna's Children's Village and Las Cruces Region Special Olympians.

The event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Speech and Hearing Center. For more information, contact Margo Speer at (575) 646-7446.
