Oliver Goldsmith's 18th century comedy follows the courtship of Charles Marlow and Kate Hardcastle. Charles is nervous around upper-class women, so Kate poses as a barmaid in order to win him. "She Stoops to Conquer" is a romantic comedy and is the final production for the 2008-2009 ASTC/NMSU Season.

"Period plays like 'She Stoops to Conquer' often get a bad rap. People assume they'll be long and boring. Not this play, and not this period. Our production brings the vivacity of the Georgian period alive through a bit of time travel. We're bringing 1785 to you," said Tim Pinnow, director and NMSU Theatre Arts faculty member.

Pinnow leads an experienced production team including NMSU Theatre Arts faculty members scenic designer Jim Billings, costume designer Deb Brunson, props designer David Hereford, and stage manager Mike Wise.

The cast includes NMSU Theatre Arts students Amy Archibeque, Kari Bahmer, Sean Dolan, Grady Easterling, Matt Jones, Jordan Kelley, Aldo Maldonado, Esther Martinez, Kiera Quinn, Christopher Rivas, Bryant Shockley and Sarah Vannest. Rounding out the cast is community actor David Edwards and NMSU faculty members Ruth Cantrell and Richard Rundell.
