Renowned Mexican flautist and harpsichordist to perform on NMSU campus

Renowned Mexican flautist Horacio Franco and harpsichordist Fabian Espinosa are set to perform in Las Cruces at New Mexico State University's Atkinson Recital Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10.

Franco and Espinosa have broken the stereotype of traditional classical musicians with an assortment of works ranging from Renaissance, to Baroque, to contemporary. Franco has performed as both a soloist and conductor for 22 CDs and performed worldwide more than 50 works written specifically for him by international composers. Franco performs regularly with the Academy of St. Martin's in the Field, the world's foremost baroque ensemble. Espinosa will serve as accompanist.

The performance entitled "From Bach to the Beatles" will be followed by a reception with light refreshments and Franco will be available to sell and autograph CDs.

Admission to the performance is free. Performance sponsors include NMSU's Office of the President, the Office of International and Border Programs, the Department of Music, the City of Las Cruces, and the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso.
