NMSU theater students will work for the Creede Repertory Theatre

New Mexico State University student Shane Bennett and graduate Carrie Fountain will work at the Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, Colo., this summer under the theater's Outreach Program.

The Outreach Program is similar to an internship because students are paid and work for the theater only during the summer, said Frank Pickard, head of NMSU's theatre arts department.

Bennett, a Lovington High School graduate and NMSU theater arts senior, is cast in five of the seven plays that the theater is scheduled to perform this summer.

Bennett last starred in the NMSU production of "Our Country's Good."

Fountain, a Las Cruces native, graduated from NMSU in December and will play Myrtle in the Creede Repertory's production of the comedy "Harvey." She last starred in the NMSU production of "Tongues."

Bennett and Fountain will receive a stipend for housing and meal expenses while in Creede.

Unlike traditional theaters, repertory theaters cycle between four to seven plays throughout the season.
