NMSU holds annual summer Children's Theater Workshop

The 25th annual summer Children's Theater Workshop concluded Friday, June 26, with a performance of "The Wind Hat" in the Hershel Zohn Theatre on the New Mexico State University campus.

The workshop began on June 8, with twelve elementary and middle school students from grades one through eight participating in the workshop. Students attended classes Monday through Friday learning basic theater skills and preparing for their performance.

"The workshop's focus is helping children find their own creative voice and gain appreciation for the theater art form," workshop director Ruth Cantrell said.

The workshop also acted as a lab for students in the university's Theater 360 class. The college students were able to interact and teach the workshop participants and help them to prepare for the show.

Registration for this fall's Children's Theater Workshop will begin in August. For more information call (575) 646-4517.
