NMSU Turfgrass Management team to hold fundraiser

The New Mexico State University Turfgrass Management team will hold the Fourth Annual Golf Tournament Green Keepers' Revenge at the Sonoma Ranch golf course Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

The entry fees are $340 per team or $85 per individual and include the round, cart, lunch and payout. First prize will be $500.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the team to raise money to attend the Annual Turf Bowl Collegiate Competition, held during the Golf Industry Show and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America annual meeting.

The team placed in the top 50 at the competition earlier this year in New Orleans, La. This is the third year NMSU has competed, and the first time it has placed in the top 50.

Students in the turfgrass science and management program can have careers as golf course superintendents; professional, college and high school athletic field managers; and lawn care operators. Students also have had internships at many prestigious golf courses and athletic fields throughout the nation, including the Cyprus Point Golf Club and the Albuquerque Isotopes playing field.
