NMSU ART GALLERY TO HOST FIRST EXHIBITION OF THE SEASON


The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will open its first exhibition of the 2009-2010 season, "Of Water and the River: Meditations on the Rio Grande," with a reception at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.

The exhibition, by San Diego artist Joyce Cutler-Shaw, is an installation of photographs, maps, artist's books and drawings. It is a celebration of the Rio Grande and explores the history, engineering, nature and the politics of water. The exhibition will run through Saturday, Oct. 24.

The opening reception for the exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery is located in D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive. For more information call (575) 646-2545, or visit www.nmsu.edu/artgal.

NMSU MUSEUM TO HOLD OPENING RECEPTION

The New Mexico State University Museum will hold a Fall Exhibit Opening Reception from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The reception is free to the public. Join the museum for refreshments and the opening of four new exhibits. The exhibits include "Dine Weavers Create Beauty," "Hilos de Tradicion: Blankets of Chimayo," "Gorillas in the Lens: Dian Fossey's Legacy" and "Counting Change: Mexican Revolutionary Currency."
