Treat your palate, help students expand their international experiences Oct. 29

New Mexico State University has prepared a night to indulge in fine dining, select, regional wines tasting and an opportunity to help students expand their educational experience abroad.

The evening of Thursday, Oct. 29, at NMSU's Fulton Center will be a treat for wine connoisseurs when representatives from the two major Southern New Mexico wineries conduct a wine tasting session followed by a five-star meal prepared by Chef Maurice Zeck and students of NMSU's school of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM). The event will benefit the Aggies Go Global program and help to establish a relationship between HRTM students and the Wine Academy of Roma, Italy.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences and NMSU's International Relations Institute have worked together to give students the opportunity to experience different cultures and international issues by sponsoring and supporting the Aggies Go Global program. This new, forward-thinking program teaches students to build worldwide relationships while learning the role that global interactions play in achieving national growth, regional prosperity and long-term individual success.

"We added the Aggies Go Global program so students can live and work in another culture and be competitive on the international stage," said Delano Lewis, director of the International Relations Institute and former U.S. Ambassador to South Africa. "It is very important for students to have exposure and experience in an international setting."

The event and dinner will cost $100 for individual tickets, $1,200 for a corporate table for seven and one student, and half tables for three individuals and one student will cost $600. A total of 120 seats are available at the individual price of $100.

The fundraiser will begin at 6 p.m. with a wine tasting reception followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. The HRTM's Meetings, Convention and Special Events Class and the NMSU Foundation will partner to deliver a 25-item silent auction.
