ASTC AT NMSU PRESENTS THE STAGED READING OF 'BALLS'


The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University will present a staged reading of "Balls" by Jonathan Yukich at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday Jan. 23 at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

The Moon family of Balls, Ala., prepares for the arrival of famed football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the reading of this hilarious new work. The show is part of ASTC's High Desert Play Development program.

NMSU ART GALLERY TO HOLD OPENING RECEPTION

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery invites the public to the opening reception for Colombian artist Luis Roldan, at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22.

Roldan is creating a mixed media installation in the gallery. The exhibition continues through February 26.

The Art Gallery is in D.W. Williams Hall on the NMSU campus on University Avenue east of Solano Drive. For more information call (575) 646-2545.
LIVE JAZZ NIGHTS CONTINUES WITH JIM SHEARER

Live Jazz Nights at The Player's Grill continues with two more consecutive performances by tubist, Jim Shearer, from 6-9 p.m. on the Saturdays of Jan. 23 and 30.

Shearer released his most recent CD entitled "The Memphis Hang" in June of 2008 and was heralded as the "lowest of the low bass" by Saint Paul Sunday host, Bill McGlaughlin.
Tickets for the shows are available for $10 for general admission or $5 with a valid NMSU ID at The Player's Grill located inside the NMSU Golf Course Clubhouse at 3000 Herb Wimberly Dr.
