Myers named interim dean of NMSU Library

NMSU Executive Vice President John Owens has named R. David Myers interim dean of the New Mexico State University Library effective July 1. Myers had served as the library's associate dean since 1994.

Previously the director of the library at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin in Madison, Myers also has worked at the Library of Congress, the Colorado State Library and the Colorado Legislative Council.

Myers takes over for Charles T. Townley, who left the post July 1 to assume the duties of a professor. Townley had been dean of NMSU's library for nine years.

Myers earned a master's degree in librarianship from the University of Denver in 1979 and a master's in history from the University of Northern Colorado in 1975. He did post-master's study in history at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

His scholarly interests include modern American and labor history. His publications include several articles in dictionaries, books and encyclopedias, and editorship of "Toward a History of the New Left: Essays From Within the Movement."
