'Testimonios' opening this week at NMSU Art Gallery

The third exhibition of the New Mexico State University's Art Gallery 2009-2010 season Luis Roldan's "Testimonios" will open this week with a reception at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, and will run until Friday, Feb. 26.

Roldan, who represented his native Colombia at 2009's Venice Biennale, uses minimal means to create lively screens and tapestries of torn cloth strips that produce effects ranging from graffiti and hieroglyphic texts, to metal shavings responding to the pull of a magnet.

The reception is free to the public and Roldan will be on site for discussion and questions. The University Art Gallery is located in D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 12 to 4 p.m.
