NMSU search committee formed for executive vice president/provost position

New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture has assembled a search committee for the university's next executive vice president/provost.

The 16-member committee, chaired by Ramon Dominguez, associate professor of educational management and development at NMSU, plans to begin reviewing applications in March. The first round of interviews will take place in April, with finalists for the position invited to the Las Cruces campus during the last week of April.

Advertising, recruiting and acceptance of nominations and applications will take place during February and early March. The search committee will work in partnership with the executive search and consulting firm of Greenwood/Asher & Associates.

"The success in meeting our charge is dependent upon the support and feedback from the NMSU community and constituents," Dominguez said. "A diverse pool of highly qualified individuals is essential to the selection process, and we will work to keep everyone informed on the process as we move forward."

Committee members are:

?Tilahun Adera, dean of the College of Health and Social Services

?Mark Andersen, professor of fishery and wildlife sciences and vice chair of the Faculty Senate

?Roseanne Bensley, associate director of Career Services and chair of the Employee Council

?Cynda Clary, interim department head of agriculture and Extension education

?Melody Duran, student in the College of Engineering

?Margie Huerta, president of the NMSU Dona Ana Community College

?Ricardo Jacquez, interim associate provost of academic affairs

?Michael Johnson, professor of chemistry and biochemistry

?Justin McHorse, director of American Indian programs

?Bernadette Montoya, assistant vice president of enrollment management

?Michele Nishiguchi, professor of biology

?Nancy Oretskin, professor of finance

?Steve Stochaj, professor in the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

?Jennifer Taylor, senior vice president for Business, Finance and Human Resources

?Marsha Weisiger, associate professor of history

"We've been tasked with the major responsibility and opportunity of recommending to President Couture candidates for the second-highest ranking administrative position at NMSU," Dominguez said. "We are looking forward to the entire NMSU community's involvement through applications, nominations, comments and participation during candidate visits."
