JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR IS COMING TO NMSU


The groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece "Jesus Christ Superstar," by legendary writing team Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will come to the New Mexico State University Pan American Center at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 12.

LECTURE ON CENTRAL AMERICAN ECONOMY TO BE PRESENTED BY CLABS

The Center for Latin American and Border Studies will host a public lecture by Aaron Schneider at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Nason House on the New Mexico State University campus.

Schneider, who is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Tulane University, will present "State-Building in an Age of Globalization: Central American Tax Regimes and Transnational Elites."

The presentation examines state-building under globalization by comparing the tax systems of five Central American countries: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador.

ASNMSU CULTURAL SERIES BRINGS BASSEKOU KOUYATE

The Associated Students of New Mexico State University's 2009-2010 Cultural Series nears its conclusion at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, with a live performance by one of Mali's best-known ngoni players, Bassekou Kouyate.

Kouyate has collaborated with many important traditional musicians of his country as well as international musicians such as Carlos Santana and U2, among many others.

2010 MASTER OF FINE ARTS EXHIBIT 'EN MASSE' TO OPEN APRIL 16

"En Masse," the 2010 Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition opens April 16 in New Mexico State University's Art Gallery. This is the culminating exhibit of three years of advanced study by ten graduates in the practice, theory and history of art.

The opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, and will be on display through May 7. The University Art Gallery is located in D.W. Williams Hall on the NMSU campus near the intersection of Solano Drive and University Avenue.

NMSU DANCE PROGRAM TO PRESENT 'RHYTHM NIGHTS'

The New Mexico State University Dance Program will be presenting "Rhythm Nights," a collaborative dance concert at 7 p.m. April 16 and 17 at the Onate Performing Arts Center featuring all three NMSU performing companies.

Sol y Arena, NMSU's Flamenco Company, Crimson Rhythm, NMSU's DanceSport company, Contemporary Dance Theater will perform.

Tickets for "Rhythm Nights" will be available at the Pan American Center Box Office, through Ticketmaster or the Dance Program Office, and at the door for $10 general admission and $8 for students. Call the Dance Program at (575) 646-2070 for more information.

ASTC AT NMSU PRESENTS 'THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'

The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University will present "The Inspector General" at 8 p.m., Friday, April 16, at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

A government inspector is headed to town and the residents are determined to make a good impression. A case of mistaken identity leads to laughter in this Russian classic.
