Two NMSU students receive Roberts Awards

Cheryl Young and Brandilyn Stigler are recipients of the Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Student Awards. The Roberts Memorial Awards are presented annually to students who make a significant contribution toward enhancing the university's quality of life.

Young, a graduate student in public history, received the first place award of $1,500. Stigler, a graduate student in mathematics, received the second place award of $750. Both awards will be presented during a reception at 3:30 p.m. April 26 in NMSU's Corbett Center Dona Ana Room.

The Roberts Award was established in 1979 in memory of Stephen and Robert Roberts, sons of George Roberts, former NMSU assistant vice president for business affairs, and his wife, Bernice. Stephen, a 1974 NMSU graduate, and Robert, an NMSU student, were killed in an automobile accident in 1978.
