Religious art exhibition to open at NMSU's Art Gallery in June

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will present the exhibition "Connecting with the Divine: Devotional Art of New Mexico," with an opening reception at 5 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the gallery.

"Connecting with the Divine" is an exhibition of Mexican and New Mexican religious art from the Mary and J. Paul Taylor Family collection.

NMSU students working with professors Elizabeth Zarur and Silvia Marinas have researched more than 90 works in the Taylor collection, based in Mesilla, and will present their findings in an accompanying catalog of their essays.

The exhibition runs June 4 through August 6.

The gallery is located at 1390 E. University Ave. east of Solano Drive. Gallery summer hours are noon to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. For more information call (575) 646-2545.
