American Southwest Theatre Company announces auditions

The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts has announced auditions for its fall 2010 productions.

Needed are men and women ages 18-60. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Hershel Zohn Theatre on the NMSU campus with callbacks scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 22.

All actors are asked to prepare one contemporary monologue running no longer than 60 seconds. NMSU Theatre Arts majors only are asked to prepare an additional Shakespearean monologue running no longer than 60 seconds.

Opening the fall season will be the farce, "The Comedy of Errors." Performances run Sept. 24 through Oct. 10.

Next will be a staged reading of a new work, "Good Lonely People," by Carol Carpenter as part of the High Desert Play Development Program.

Closing the semester will be the family classic, "A Christmas Carol," adapted by Tom Smith. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge has been pre-cast. Performances run Nov. 19 through Dec. 5.

All productions will be performed at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.
Those interested may sign up for an audition slot on the callboard in the Hershel Zohn Theatre lobby between Aug. 1 and 20.
