First NMSU exhibition of the fall to open Aug. 20

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery invites the public to the opening reception for "Unmute: Text & Image in American Art 1970-2000" being held at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20.

Over 50 works, including artists' books, photographs and prints from the NMSU Permanent Collection, explore the intersection of the written and the visual in the post-Minimalist era. Artists represented include Terry Allen, Celia Alvarez Munoz, Spencer Fidler, Joyce Kozloff, Sol LeWitt, Jaune Quick To See Smith and Larry Rivers. The exhibition will run Aug. 20 through Oct. 1.

The reception is free and refreshments will be served.

The Art Gallery is located in DW Williams Hall, at the intersection of University Avenue east of Solano Drive. Entrance to the hall is on the University Avenue side.
