NMSU PRESENTS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE VIDEO CONFERENCE


Students at New Mexico State University will get the opportunity to learn about careers with the U.S. Department of State during a video conference at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in Milton Hall Room 171.

An informative session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a reception to follow until 7:30 p.m.

Seating is limited. To attend, students must RSVP.

NMSU MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS 'THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE TROMBONE'

The Department of Music at New Mexico State University will present a guest artist recital with Ken Shifrin and Mike Hall, "The Golden Age of the Trombone," at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Atkinson Recital Hall.

Shifrin has been principal trombonist with both the Radio Stuttgart Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra since 1994 and has appeared as a guest soloist with the U.S. Navy Band, the U.S. Army Orchestra, at the Smetana International Music Festival, the Malta International Arts festival and more. He was also a member of the rock band Atlantics and performed for artists such as Michael Jackson, Olivia Newton-John, Natalie Cole, the Drifters and Andy Williams.

Mike Hall, professor of trombone/euphonium and brass choir director at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., has recorded several motion picture soundtracks, television and radio commercials and CDs ranging from symphonic wind music to jazz, rap, ska and rhythm and blues. He has backed entertainers such as Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Maureen McGovern, Jack Jones, Vanessa Williams and the Temptations.

ASTC AT NMSU THEATRE ARTS PRESENTS CLASSIC SHAKESPEAREAN COMEDY

The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts will present Shakespeare's classic slapstick farce, "Comedy of Errors," Sept. 24 through Oct. 10 at Hershel Zohn Theatre.

This season, due to overwhelming audience request, all evening performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees remain at 2 p.m.

Tickets to "Comedy of Errors" are available at the Hershel Zohn Theatre box office from 12-4 p.m. or by calling 575-646-4515.

NMSU ART GALLERY PRESENTS AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will feature Unmute: Text and Image in American Art 1970-2000 from Aug. 20 through Oct. 1. The display focuses on post-Minimalist late twentieth century art and images and text within the art.

The NMSU Art Gallery, located inside D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
