The film presentation is sponsored by Chicano Programs and the Sexual Gender Diversity Resource Center at New Mexico State University.

"We wanted to show this movie because of the strong presence of the Hispanic culture at NMSU," said Sharna Horn, coordinator of the Sexual and Gender Diversity Resource Center. "Many of our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer students are Hispanic, and they are struggling with integrating two different aspects of their identity. This movie explores that struggle and the process of developing and claiming a positive identity for oneself."

"La Mission" is rated R for language, some violence and sexual content. The film stars Benjamin Bratt, Erika Alexander, Jeremy Ray Valdez and Jesse Borrego.
