NMSU gives special recognition to degree recipients with highest honors

Five recent graduates of New Mexico State University received special recognition as the degree recipients with highest honors at NMSU's spring commencement ceremony May 13.

Degree recipients with highest honors are chosen by the registrar's office based on the number of NMSU credit hours earned and cumulative grade point average. The degree recipients with highest honors from each college are:

Augusto J. Roman, College of Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences, bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer science; Karim A. Martinez, College of Agriculture and Home Economics, bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences; Lisa R. Scribner, College of Business Administration and Economics, bachelor of accountancy; Jill V. Wheatley, College of Education, bachelor's degree in elementary education; and Linda L. Kinstle, College of Health and Social Services, bachelor of social work.

Roman also was selected by the Alumni Association as the Outstanding Senior for the College of Engineering and was the winner of the Class of 1919 Scholarship given to the senior with the highest academic rating.
