Chile Institute Donors Honored in Hall of Flame

LAS CRUCES - Chile Pepper Institute donors are being remembered with decorative ceramic tiles hung in the Hall of Flame at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces.

"People can give a timeless gift and show their support of the chile industry," said Paul Bosland, institute director and chile breeder with New Mexico State University's Agricultural Experiment Station.

The Chile Pepper Institute has been working with the museum to create a display that will cover all aspects of the chile industry from a New Mexico point of view, he said.

"Chile is very important as an international crop and the display will be telling that story with an interactive video," Bosland said.

Bosland said money raised from the purchase of the tiles will help fund creation of the display and the institute's day- to-day operations.

Chile Pepper Institute members and others can receive a 4- by-4-inch tile with donations of $100 and a 6-by-6-inch tile with donations of $500. Each tile will include the donor's name and home town.

The institute is a 501 C3 nonprofit organization.
