NMSU Army ROTC invites community to join annual Food Bank Halloween Run

New Mexico State University's Army ROTC program will host its annual Community Food Bank Halloween Run at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct 29, beginning at the NMSU James B. Delamater Student Activity Center. The purpose of the event is to provide a large donation of canned goods for the upcoming holiday season and Army ROTC are encouraging everyone to attend and support the local community.

The 1.5-mile run around the NMSU campus will be at a leisurely and comfortable pace. Community members are invited to come out in their Halloween costumes to enjoy a good workout and have some fun. A donation of a canned good is highly encouraged and greatly appreciated.

The canned food will be donated to the Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico Food Bank. CAASM is a non-profit agency that has been distributing food and other essential items to families that are in need within our community since 1964. The food bank distributes the food it receives through member agencies, churches, shelters, group homes and soup kitchens. CAASM is devoted to helping the poor, feeding the hungry and bettering the community's resources and the lives of its people. They serve the people of Dona Ana, Hidalgo, Sierra, Luna, Catron, Otero, Socorro and Grant counties.

Local law enforcement and emergency services agencies also will participate in this year's run.
