ASTC holding auditions for fall plays

The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University is holding auditions for its fall productions beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

ASTC will be casting three plays: "Blithe Spirit," directed by Timothy Pinnow; "How I Learned to Drive," directed by Cynthia Dillon; and "Holiday Memories," directed by Frank Pickard.

Approximately 20 roles are available to actors ranging from 14-50 years of age.

Actors should prepare two contemporary monologues, one serious and one comic, each no longer than two minutes. Actors also will be required to sing their favorite Christmas song, acappella for 15-30 seconds.

Actors must sign up for an audition time slot on the theater call board in the Hershel Zohn Theatre lobby before Aug. 28.

Production dates for "Blithe Spirit" are Sept. 24 to Oct. 3. "How I Learned to Drive" will run Oct. 26-31 and "Holiday Memories" will run Dec. 3-12.

Actors should bring a theater resume and a picture, if available. Scripts for each of the plays can be checked out from the NMSU Department of Theatre Arts for no more than 24 hours. For more information, call Michael Wise at (505) 646-5418.
