NMSU MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS COLLAGE CONCERT


The Department of Music at New Mexico State University will present a collage concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Atkinson Recital Hall. Faculty members will perform music by Telemann, Mozart, Bach, Koechlin, Chopin, and Eric Whitacre. There is no admission charge.

UNIVERSITY MUSEUM HOSTS ARCHAEOLOGY DAY

The University Museum at New Mexico State University will host a workshop on archaeology at 2 p.m. Nov. 6.

The University Museum is located in Kent Hall at University Avenue and Solano Drive on the NMSU campus. Weather permitting, the workshop will be held in the museum courtyard.

NMSU INDIAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION TO HOST DIWALI CELEBRATIONS

The Indian Students Association at New Mexico State University will host Roshni 2010, Diwali Indian Festival celebrations, at 5 p.m. Nov. 7 at Atkinson Recital Hall.

Entry is free, and the program will conclude with an Indian food buffet and fireworks.

NMSU TO HOST ETIQUETTE DINNER AT STAN FULTON CENTER

An etiquette dinner, "Mind Your Manners, the Fine Art of Dining Etiquette," will be held at New Mexico State University Nov. 11 on the third floor of Stan Fulton Center.

Check-in will begin at 4:30 p.m., with a mix and mingle time at 5 p.m. and dinner beginning at 6 p.m.

The $12 fee includes a four course dinner, hors d'oeuvres and beverages. Entertainment will be provided by the Mayfield High School Orchestra Quartet. Business casual dress is required.

Attendees are asked to RSVP and submit payment by Nov. 5.

SOCIOLOGY AND WOMEN STUDIES AT NMSU PRESENT 'THE PEOPLE SPEAK'

The Departments of Sociology and Women Studies at New Mexico State University will sponsor the showing of the film, "The People Speak," at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in Chemistry Building Room 111.

The film was inspired by Howard Zinn's "The People's History of the United States."

NMSU CHOIRS PRESENT FESTIVAL OF THANKS

Four choirs composed of New Mexico State University students will present a holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Atkinson Recital Hall

University Singers will sing three Hebrew love songs and three new compositions by NMSU graduate Justin Raines, text by Ann Palormo. Liszt's "Missa Choralis" and traditional holiday songs, such as "Baby It's Cold Outside" and songs from two new choirs: Women's Choir and Men's Choir, will also be performed.

NMSU ART GALLERY PRESENTS MODERN DESIGN/FOLK ART EXHIBIT

The Art Gallery at New Mexico State University will present a modern design/folk art exhibition from Oct. 15 through Dec. 17.

The exhibition joins together folk art objects collected by designer Alexander Girard and examples of his modern furniture, textiles and films for the Herman Miller Company to explore the intersections of handcraft and machine production, mid-century modernist esthetics and folk art.

The NMSU Art Gallery, located inside D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
