Benavidez Received Achievement Award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rudy Benavidez, Sandoval County Extension program director and agriculture agent, recently received an achievement award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents at a reception in Nashville, Tenn.

"Awards like this mean a lot because they come from other agents, recognizing what you're doing," Benavidez said. Benavidez helped create a master gardener program in Sandoval County, three farmers markets, a regional economic development organization, brush control programs, and sustainable agricultural practices in crop and livestock production.

In addition, he received the volunteer of the year award from the New Mexico Main Street Association in 1993.

Benavidez received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural and extension education from New Mexico State University.
