NMSU choirs to open season with "Let Us Entertain You"

The New Mexico State University choral program will open its 1999 season with "Let Us Entertain You," a musical variety show scheduled for performances on Friday, Sept. 24, and Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Music Center Recital Hall.

The concert features the University Singers, Concert Choir and Masterworks Chorus performing exuberant musical numbers intended to have "a strong emotional impact on the audience," said Jerry Ann Alt, choral music director. Tickets are $8, $10 and $12.

Voice faculty member Jenny Pinnow will emcee the show and also will perform "The Saga of Jenny."

"In addition to some of the best Broadway-style singing you'll hear, Jenny also moves very well on stage," Alt said. "Her delivery sets a very high standard for the whole show. We are delighted to welcome Jenny as the newest member of our voice faculty."

The concert also features Della Bustamante, who is returning to NMSU as a graduate assistant in voice. She will sing a number from her recently released CD.

Student directors for the show are Bree Del Campo and Mary Haddad. Both will perform as well as direct.

Selections to be performed in the concert include "76 Trombones," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from Les Miserables, and "I'm a Woman."
