Steve Smith to perform at University Art Gallery

Musician Steve Smith will perform at the New Mexico State University Art Gallery from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, as part of the gallery's lunchtime performance series "Art a la Carte." Admission is free and visitors are invited to bring a sack lunch.


A musician, composer and teacher, Smith has performed professionally for 17 years. His latest CD, "Other Places, Times and Lives," features a range of instruments including guitar, mandolin, mandola and mandocello.

On exhibit through Oct. 24 at the University Art Gallery are "Bill Gersh: The Taos Years" and "Low 'N' Slow: Lowriding in New Mexico." The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
