Woods promoted to vice president at NMSU

Ben Woods, assistant vice president and director of the physical plant at New Mexico State University, has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president for facilities.

"Mr. Woods has provided distinguished service and has demonstrated an exceptional mastery of professional skills since his arrival at NMSU in 1990," Executive Vice President John C. Owens said in announcing the promotion.

"As part of this promotion, some additional areas will come under his management responsibilities, including the Printing and Duplicating Center, the Property Office, Mail Services, and perhaps other areas later on," Owens said.

Woods joined NMSU as physical plant director in 1990 and was promoted to assistant vice president in 1995. A native of Baytown, Texas, he has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Woods is currently serving as vice president for economic development for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.

He served four years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force and 16 years in the Texas Air National Guard. He was commander of the 136th Civil Engineering Squadron when he retired from military service in 1995.
