Applicants sought for NMSU's Orozco Memorial Scholarship

Applicants are being sought for the Debra Orozco Memorial Leadership Scholarship at New Mexico State University. The $200 scholarship is awarded each fall to an NMSU sophomore or junior in memory of Debra Rosas Orozco, who died of cancer in 1996.

During her seven years as a professional staff member at NMSU, Orozco was the assistant to the vice president for student affairs and later the director of student development. She helped many students develop leadership skills and become active participants in campus and community life.

Family, friends and colleagues established this memorial scholarship to recognize the outstanding leadership potential and accomplishments of selected NMSU students.

Applicants must be NMSU sophomores or juniors who have completed a minimum of 28 credit hours, are currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, are in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75, and are planning to enroll in the spring semester.

Applicants must include a resume, a one-page, typewritten personal statement and two letters of reference. Application materials should be returned by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, to the vice president for student affairs' office on the second floor of the Corbett Center Student Union, or sent in campus mail to MSC 3923.
