New Mexico's landscape is the focus of students' exhibit

"The Visible and the Visual - Landscape Paintings of Frank Rimbach and Frank Meuschke," will be on display at the New Mexico State University's Corbett Center Student Union Art Gallery through October 9.

Rimbach, a senior majoring in art, and Meuschke, an art graduate student, focused on the southern New Mexico landscape for their paintings. The exhibit is a culmination of a nine-month long project.

"The New Mexico land is of great power and beauty," Meuschke said. "For myself, painting directly from our landscape is a meditative and expansive experience."

For Rimbach, the project was an exercise in capturing artistic principles.

"I liked exploring color, form, relationship and space. I was challenged to do the work and think about it," Rimbach said.

The paintings will be on display at the CCSU Art Gallery through Oct. 9. For more information, contact Heather Bradley at (505) 646-3235.
