Teleconference Offers Marketing Advice for Home-based Business Owners

LAS CRUCES -- New Mexicans who own or want to start home-based businesses can tune into a teleconference Mar. 19 for answers to their marketing questions.

"Mapping Your Marketing Future" will cover how to turn a good idea into a great business, how to catch a customer's attention and how to price a product or service. Business owners and specialists will talk about the "four P's" of marketing: positioning, production, pricing and promotion. The teleconference will originate from Oklahoma State University.

"New Mexico has a tremendous number of home-based and micro businesses. I don't think anyone knows just how many," said Mary Ellen McKay. "We're pleased to be able to make some outside experts available to New Mexico small business owners with this format."

Some teleconference segments will be pre-taped stories with home-based and micro business owners discussing how they have addressed marketing issues, McKay said. "A live panel of successful business owners will be available during part of the broadcast to answer viewer questions. At the individual sites, viewing together also will provide opportunities to talk with other business owners from the area."

Six counties will have downlink sites for live viewing from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend.
