Border Livestock Crossing Tour Offered

LAS CRUCES -- A tour of the Santa Teresa border livestock crossing facility is planned as part of the Cattle Growers' Short Course offered by New Mexico State University Mar. 28-29.


New Mexico ranchers, as well as the general public, are invited to take the tour to see the facility and process by which Mexican cattle cross the border into the U.S. The tour will take place from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Mar. 29.

The short course program will begin Mar. 28 at the Holiday Inn de Las Cruces and will feature information about livestock trade with Mexico and an update on the New Mexico feeder calf health situation. The New Mexico Cattle Growers' Association (NMCGA) spring meeting will be held after the short course.

NMCGA members planning to attend the short course on Mar. 28 can register by contacting the NMCGA office in Albuquerque at (505) 247-0584. Cost of the course is $10 and the tour is an additional $15. Those who are not NMCGA members can register for the short course and the tour by contacting Ron Parker at NMSU at (505) 646-1709.
