"Serape XV" accepting submissions

"Serape," an anthology of fiction and nonfiction for New Mexico authors over the age of 55, is accepting submissions for its 15th edition.

New Mexico State University English professor Kevin McIlvoy said poetry, fiction and nonfiction of all kinds is acceptable for "Serape."

"I decided to create Serape' after I saw the wonderful writing by seniors at the Munson Senior Citizens Center here in Las Cruces," McIlvoy said. He began teaching writing classes at the center 17 years ago. "After the first publication, it was so successful we decided to make it a statewide anthology."

Authors may submit several pieces, with all work totaling less than 40 pages. Payment will be three free copies of "Serape XV," which is slated for publication in spring 2001.

Send submissions to: Prof. Kevin McIlvoy, "Serape Anthology," Box 30001, Dept. 3E, NMSU, Las Cruces, NM, 88003-0001. A self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included with each submission.

For more information, call McIlvoy at (505) 646-2024. To request a sample copy of "Serape" send $10 to the address listed above.
