Latin singer to perform at NMSU Nov. 15

Latin musician Irene Farrera will perform at New Mexico State University's Corbett Center Student Union Auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15.

The free performance, which is sponsored by NMSU's Union Program Council, is part of Farrera's tour to promote her new CD, "Soy de Ti."

Set to acoustic guitars and unique drum beats, and with Spanish and English lyrics, Farrera's songs touch on the themes of social justice, peace and compassion.

Critics have called Farrera's voice powerful and haunting.

Farrera, originally born in Venezuela, comes to NMSU after performances at Latin Fest in Chicago and the Lotus World Festival, where she opened for Barbarito Torres of Buena Vista Social Club fame.
