Deadline for Hubbard scholarship is Nov. 22

New Mexico State University students wishing to apply for the Peirce and Barbara Hubbard Endowed Scholarship must do so by Monday, Nov. 22.

Students, NMSU employees and friends of Peirce and Barbara Hubbard established the Endowed Scholarship Fund in honor of the Hubbards' service to NMSU and the community.

Barbara Hubbard, known and respected nationwide, spent more than 30 years at NMSU serving as a teacher, mentor and role model. The scholarship is intended to recognize qualified and deserving students who exemplify dedication, leadership and commitment to service. The Hubbard Scholar will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship must be currently enrolled in at least six credit hours and must plan to enroll for classes next semester. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 also is required. Preference will be given to those students majoring in business, education, hospitality and tourism or the performing arts.

Applicants must submit a resume, a two-page typed essay and two letters of recommendation to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. The deadline for completed applications is Nov. 22, 1999.
