Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by the CFRE Board including tenure in the profession, education, professional achievements and a commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. Candidates must pass a written examination and agree to uphold a code of ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights.

Hoffmann is president of the Texas/El Paso chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), which covers the Las Cruces - El Paso - Juarez area. The NSFRE is one of six professional associations that participate in the CFRE program.

Hoffmann is the only Las Cruces resident with the CFRE designation. Her father, Jim Peak, a national fund-raising consultant and former chief development officer for the University of Texas at El Paso, is the only El Pasoan with the designation.
