NMSU Museum offering Saturday Family Workshops this spring

The New Mexico State University Museum will be offering free Family Workshops on Saturdays from Jan. 22 through May 6. The workshops, designed to teach children about the current exhibits on display at the museum, are for children ages 4-12.


Before the workshops, parents and children are invited to view the exhibits "Images of the Maya" and "Cooperating for their Lives" which run through Feb. 26. "Anasazi World," a collection of photographs, artifacts and text exploring the pueblo culture of the Colorado Plateau, will run March 9 through Oct. 28.

Scheduled workshops are Saturdays from 2-3:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. They are:

Feb. 19, scavenger hunt
Feb. 26, story books
March 4, sand paintings
March 11, dream catchers
March 18, basket-making
March 25, paper kites
April 8, potato stamps
April 15, Anasazi beads
April 22, painting pots
April 29, Native American music
May 6, children's play

All Family Workshops will be held outside of the University Museum at Kent Hall, weather permitting. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children.
