MESILLA VALLEY CONCERT BAND TO PERFORM AT NMSU


The Department of Music at New Mexico State University will host the Mesilla Valley Concert Band at 3 p.m. Jan. 30 at Atkinson Recital Hall.

NMSU music professor William Clark will present a new setting of Gioachino Rosinni's, "An Italian Girl in Algiers," and the first movement of "Concerto for Trombone" by Johan de Meij, featuring Mesilla Valley Concert Band soloist Nathan Wood.

NMSU CAREER SERVICES TO HOST CAREER CONNECTIONS 2011

New Mexico State University Career Services will host Career Connections 2011 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2 at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

Students will have the opportunity to explore careers related to the fields of business, agriculture, liberal arts and health and social services on Feb. 1, and careers related to engineering, science and technology on Feb. 2.

Students can search for co-ops, internships, full-time employment and network with more than 100 employers. Students are asked to dress professionally and bring a copy of their résumé.

The Las Cruces Convention Center is located at 680 E. University Ave.

NMSU MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS JUNIOR HORN RECITAL

The Department of Music at New Mexico State University will present a junior recital, featuring Keisha Twitchell on the horn, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Atkinson Recital Hall.

JUNIOR MANCE QUINTET TO PERFORM AT RIO GRANDE THEATRE

The Junior Mance Quintet will perform a cultural series at the Rio Grande Theatre in Las Cruces at 8 p.m. Feb. 3.

Junior Mance, born Julian Clifford Mance Jr. in Chicago, is a jazz pianist, composer and the author of "How to Play Blues Piano." He has also recorded more than 30 albums. Before putting together his own band, Mance toured with Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderly and Dizzy Gillespie

This performance is the closing event for the Jam Session Exhibit, a two-month celebration of jazz in conjunction with the city of Las Cruces.

ASTC AT NMSU THEATRE ARTS TO CELEBRATE MARDI GRAS GALA EVENT

The American Southwest Theater Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts will host the Mardi Gras Gala from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

The Mardi Gras Gala 2011 will be among the first events held in the new convention center. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Carrie Hamblen from NMSU's KRWG-TV and will include music, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and a costume contest.

NMSU ART GALLERY PRESENT ART FACULTY BIENNIAL EXHIBITION

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will present the 2011 Art Faculty Biennial exhibition from Jan. 21 through Feb. 23.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located in D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive.
