ASTC at NMSU Theatre Arts to celebrate Mardi Gras Gala event

The American Southwest Theater Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts will host the Mardi Gras Gala, which has been rescheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. March 5 at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

The Mardi Gras Gala 2011 will be among the first events held in the new convention center. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Carrie Hamblen from NMSU's KRWG-FM and will include music, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and a costume contest.

The Mardi Gras Gala will include a silent auction, featuring a Brian Fallstead Mardi Gras blue marble mask sculpture, a sofa table from Ashley's Furniture, jewelry, a Japanese figurine, a Waterford crystal chip and dip set and more.

ASTC is also offering tables of 10 for $275, making it the best value for this major fundraiser for the theater, said Tom Smith, ASTC managing director. Patrons who buy a table will receive a lower ticket price.

"This is a perfect opportunity for companies to show their gratitude to employees or special customers by reserving a table for 10," Smith said.

ASTC is a non-profit organization working with the NMSU Department of Theatre Arts. All gala proceeds benefit ASTC's programs, including funding guest artists and community outreach events.

Mardi Gras Gala tickets cost $30 per person.
