Insurance and risk management expert to give presentation at NMSU

Douglas J. Borg of Duke University will give his presentation, "The Impact of Social Networking on Healthcare Delivery," at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in Guthrie Hall Room 100 at New Mexico State University.

Borg is the director of insurance and the associate director of clinical risk management for the Duke University Health System. He also served as president of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management in 2008. His presentation is part of the Spencer Educational Foundation's "Risk Management in Residence" program.

Tim Query, professor of finance at NMSU, said the conference is open to the NMSU community and will be especially beneficial to anyone in the health care profession and students in the colleges of Business and Health and Social Services.

"The presentation combines two hot issues; social networking and health care," Query said. "These are leading-edge topics which have become major issues in recent years, so it should be a relevant and informative presentation."

The event is sponsored by the Risk Management and Insurance Studies program at NMSU.

The NMSU College of Business also offers a minor in risk management and insurance for anyone interested in the field.
