Student artwork recognized at NMSU Art Gallery's 2011 Juried Student Art Show

Eighty-three works by New Mexico State University students selected from 249 entries were given more than $3,400 in awards during the NMSU Art Gallery's 2011 Juried Student Art Show.

The show, which opened Friday, March 11, gave students the opportunity to showcase their work; which was recognized with awards given by private individuals, local businesses and College of Arts and Sciences Dean Christa Slaton.

Serving as this year's jurors were Darius Himes and David Chickey, co-founders of Radius Books in Sante Fe, N.M. which encourages, promotes and publishes books of artistic and cultural value.

Students whose work was recognized in this year's show included Brenda Torres, Santana Lopez, Jami Cooper, Chaves Smith, Jennifer Garcia, Paul Neff, Kally Malcom, Lindsey McDonald, Danielle Wood, Michelle Montoya, Elaine Navarro, Natalia Rodriguez, Eric Vechot, Jessica Christine Owen, Nathan Ortega, Takami Saijo Cox, Harrison Brooks, Jolene Castanon, Summer Gall, Ben Brooks, Matthew Ortiz, Lizbeth Mata, James Gamble, Jessica Pizana, Annika Rundberg and Stephanie Smith.

The exhibition will continue through March 31.
