UNIVERSITY MUSEUM HOSTS WORKSHOP ON CARNIVAL MASK-MAKING


Visitors to the New Mexico State University Museum from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 16 will learn about the different masks of Carnival while designing their own mask.

The University Museum is located in Kent Hall at University Avenue and Solano Drive on the NMSU campus. Weather permitting, the workshop will be held in the museum courtyard.

LOCAL CELEBRITIES TO COMPETE IN 2011 LOOK WHO'S DANCING CONTEST

The 2011 Look Who's Dancing! competition will be held at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Pan American Center at New Mexico State University.

NMSU DanceSport students choreograph the dances and instruct and perform two dances with the local celebrities. The contestants this year include Mesilla Mayor Nora Barraza, Amanda Cruz of the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, The Rocket 99.5's Lynz Green, author Audrey Hartley, NMSU First Gentleman Paul Couture, Pulse Magazine Editor Lucas Peerman, NMSU Army ROTC Commander Lt. Col. Andrew Taylor and Savonne Griffin of FirstLight Federal Credit Union, Big Brothers-Big Sisters and the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.

UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY PRESENTS MFA EXHIBITION

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will present the annual Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition from April 15 through May 6.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located in D.W. Williams Hall on University Avenue east of Solano Drive.

ASTC AT NMSU THEATRE ARTS PRESENTS CLASSIC THRILLER

American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts will present a preview of J.B. Priestley's classic thriller, "An Inspector Calls," at 7:30 p.m. at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

The play will run from April 15 through May 1.

All evening performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees will being at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Hershel Zohn Theatre Box Office between noon and 4 p.m. or by calling 575-646-4515.

NMSU LIBRARY EXHIBIT CELEBRATES CENTENARY OF CUBAN AUTHOR

A new exhibit at Branson Library at New Mexico State University will celebrate the centenary and works of several writers affiliated with the Grupo Origenes from March 29 through May 15.

The exhibit will feature the works of Cuban author Jose Lezama Lima, Cintio Vitier and Eliseo Diego. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
