NMSU Theater Arts presents summer Children's Theatre Workshop

The New Mexico State University Department of Theatre Arts will present a summer program for youth who have completed grades first through eighth June 6-24.

The Children's Theatre Workshop, which is in its 26th year, has garnered recognition as one of the best children's theater programs in the Southwest. The program offers students the opportunity to explore, create, act and develop skills in theatrical production, communication, collaboration and imagination.

Children in first through third grade will rehearse and produce the classic southwestern story, "African Tales."

The production will be directed by Ruth Cantrell, NMSU theater professor.

"CTW is one of the most important things we offer in the community," said Tom Smith, NMSU Theatre Arts department head. "It offers a creative outlet to youth, while teaching life skills that extend well beyond the production."

CTW runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 6-24. The workshop costs $150.

Registration forms are available at the Hershel Zohn Theatre lobby or at the department website at http://theatre.nmsu.edu/nmsu/CTW.pdf.
