NMSU Carlsbad recognizes outstanding graduates

New Mexico State University Carlsbad will honor the spring 2011 Outstanding Graduates at a BBQ luncheon at noon Thursday, May 5, at the NMSU Carlsbad campus.


The NMSU Alumni Association selected a recipient from each of Carlsbad's six divisions based on outstanding scholarship, leadership and participation in university and community activities.

The Social Science and Education Division will honor Ellen Pernell Jimenez, an elementary education major. Jimenez graduates as a Crimson Scholar with a 3.8 GPA. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.

The Science Division will honor Madison Atwood of Lubbock, a science major. Atwood was a Crimson Scholar, Crimson Pin Recipient and a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

The English and Humanities Division will honor Morgan Reed of Carlsbad, who will receive her associate's degree in arts. With a 3.7 GPA, Reed was a part of the dean's honor list, a Crimson Scholar and a Meritorious Graduate.

The Manufacturing, Nursing, EMT and Allied Health and Wellness Division will honor Brent James Royston of Carlsbad who majors in nursing. Royston is a member of the Student Nurses Association and is graduating as a Crimson Scholar.

The Business Studies and Business Office Technology Division is honoring Robin Kincaid who will receive an associate's of pre-business. Kincaid graduates as a Crimson Scholar with a 3.9 GPA. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Chi Honor Societies and participates in the Board of the Eddy County Fair.
