Southern New Mexico Pride, NMSU SGDRC bringing Drag Bingo back to Pride Weekend

The New Mexico State University Sexual and Gender Diversity Resource Center and Southern New Mexico Pride have announced the return of their popular Drag Bingo fundraiser set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 17 at the Ramada Palms de Las Cruces. The fundraiser is part of the weekend-long Pride celebration.

Two years ago, Drag Bingo was one of the most popular events of the Pride weekend, with a sellout crowd including standing room only participation. This year tickets are on sale at Spirit Winds, 2260 S. Locust St. in Las Cruces, and will be on sale at the door while they last.

Those attending Drag Bingo will join expert ball-puller Ivonna Bump as she calls out the combinations and awards the winners with amazing prizes. DJ Berto will keep the musical momentum going and live and silent auctions also will take place throughout the evening.

"Las Cruces has been waiting for Drag Queens and they are back by popular demand!" said Sharna Horn, coordinator of the NMSU SGDRC and the event's organizer. "Emcee Ivonnah Bump and DJ Berto are hot off a successful event at NMSU with over 300 people in attendance. Tickets will go fast and this is an event that people will be talking about for years. There will also be a cash bar, so everyone is guaranteed to have a great time."

General admission tickets are $15, while students can purchase tickets for $10. Proceeds will benefit Southern New Mexico Pride and the Sexual and Gender Diversity Resource Center at NMSU.

Southern New Mexico Pride will hold its annual Pride Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at Pioneer Women's Park in downtown Las Cruces. The theme of this year's event is "Diversity Creates Community." Drag Bingo is part of a weekend of scheduled events, which includes the Queer Bake Off, the new juried Pride Art Show and a Pride Dance Party sponsored by Triple Threat Productions at 8 p.m. at the Ramada Palms de Las Cruces.
