NMSU offers experts to answer community questions through radio program

Have you ever wondered why the sun lightens our hair but darkens our skin or whether Billy the Kid was really pardoned before he was shot to death?

Beginning Sept. 5, New Mexico State University will partner with KRWG-FM for a radio program titled askNMSU. It will provide an opportunity for members of the Las Cruces-area community to ask questions and share in the knowledge and expertise of professors of all academic departments across the university, from arts and sciences to business and everything in between.

"We are really excited about the opportunity to open up another way for our listeners to get their questions answered," said Fred Martino, KRWG-TV/FM director of content. "With a wealth of experts here at NMSU, there will be opportunities to explore a wide range of topics."

In honor of the state's centennial celebration, the broadcasts will begin with answers from NMSU history professor Jon Hunner to a series of questions about New Mexico history.

As members of the community send in questions for NMSU experts, one question will be selected each week and the answer from a faculty member will be broadcast on KRWG-FM Mondays at 6:59 a.m. and 8:59 a.m.

After broadcast, all askNMSU segments will be posted as podcasts at www.krwg.org. Anyone with a question for the experts at NMSU should submit it by email to asknmsu@nmsu.edu.
