NMSU ART DEPARTMENT PRESENTS PROJECT: POSTCARD


The New Mexico State University Art Department will host Project: Postcard, an exhibition and fund raiser, Sept. 10 in D.W. Williams Hall at NMSU.

The exhibition will feature donated works in a 5 x 7-inch format. The works will be exhibited from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be auctioned off from 3 to 5 p.m.

UNIVERSITY MUSEUM PRESENTS OPENING RECEPTION FOR NEW EXHIBITS

The University Museum at New Mexico State University will present an opening reception for its four new exhibits from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15.

Dancing Under the Moon: A Portrait of the Raramuri of the Sierra Tarahumara; Through the Eye of the Macaw: Ritual Symbolism of Casas Grandes; Envisioning Vietnam: Continuity and Change in the 21st Century and Human Origins: Fossil Evidence from Africa are new exhibits at the museum.

Refreshments will be served. The University Museum is located in Kent Hall on the NMSU campus, at the corner of University Avenue and Solano Drive.

CENTER FOR LATIN AMERICAN AND BORDER STUDIES HOSTS FIESTA

The Center for Latin American and Border Studies at New Mexico State University will host its Beginning of the Year Fiesta at 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Nason House.

NEW BARNES & NOBLE AT NMSU PRESENTS GRAND OPENING AND PEP RALLY

Now that the fall textbook rush has come to a close, the Barnes & Noble at NMSU Bookstore & Café at the corner of University and Jordan will host a three-day Grand Opening Celebration Sept. 16-18.

Festivities begin on Friday, Sept. 16, with a costumed character from 10-11 a.m. Lawrence Walsh will read and sign his book, "Begging for Vultures" from University of New Mexico Press from 10 a.m. - noon. Other guests include Denise Chavez from 2-4 p.m., Jon Hunner from 4-6 p.m. and Richard Yanez from 6-8 p.m.

A formal open house will take place from 3-5 p.m. ending with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Barnes & Noble at NMSU Bookstore and Café. Vocal performances and specials will take place throughout the day.

The event will conclude across the street near Rhodes-Garret-Hamiel Residence Hall as the NMSU vs. University of Texas El Paso pep rally begins at 5:15 p.m.

NMSU ART GALLERY PRESENTS 'LOOKING BACK/LOOKING FORWARD'

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will host "Looking Back/Looking Forward," Sept. 2-Oct. 15.

The exhibition will feature works by Amanda Jaffe, who taught ceramics classes at NMSU for 23 years and retired last month.

The NMSU Art Gallery is now open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The gallery is located in the D.W. Williams Art Center at 1390 E. University Ave. on the NMSU Campus.
